Let's work together to engage with corporate donors.

Funding Options

Rotary Foundation Australia offers two ways for clubs and districts to engage with corporates in funding large Rotary projects—CSR Grants and Global Grants.

CSR Grants are the simpler option, with fewer restrictions and a minimum grant value of A$35,000. The project can be fully funded by the corporation but supplementary cash contributions can also be accepted and districts can allocate part of their District Grant funding towards a CSR Grant. The corporate must be a for-profit business.

Global Grants can be funded by for-profit businesses or by philanthropies. The minimum project value is A$50,000 and this can be fully funded by the corporation or philanthropy in the form of a Directed Gift to the project. Cash contributions from others can also be accepted. In addition, districts in Australia and globally can contribute in the form of District Designated Funds (DDF)—and DDF attracts an 80% match from The Rotary Foundation.

There is an administration fee of 5% on both CSR Grants and Global Grant contributions.

Register your project

If you have a corporate sponsor or would like to engage with Rotary Foundation Australia to pursue an opportunity with a prospective corporate donor, please register your Rotary project here.

Rotary Foundation Australia was established to deliver tax deductibility to Australian donors and to support Australian Rotary clubs that are delivering high-impact projects.

One way of achieving this is for RFA to help clubs connect with generous local corporates (including businesses and philanthropies) so that they can work together to deliver Rotary projects that address shared goals.

Please note that the primary responsibility for identifying a prospective corporate donor rests with the club or district rather than Rotary Foundation Australia.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, your project must:

  1. meet the requirements of either a Global Grant or a CSR Grant

  2. meet the Australian Tax Office requirement to ‘relieve poverty, sickness, suffering or disability’ or be undertaken in a ‘developing country’

  3. address real community needs (and, for Global Grants, have completed a Community Needs Assessment)

  4. for Global Grants, align with one of our Areas of Focus and
for CSR Grants, align with the Foundation’s mission “to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty”

  5. include measurable goals, be sustainable and deliver long-term impact

  6. the minimum project value is A$50,000 for a Global Grant project and A$35,000 for a CSR Grant project

And, of course, the project needs to support the goals of the corporate partner.
